You can grow your own tobacco, you can make your own wine and beer — there are other somewhat-controlled substances where you can produce your own,” Zaid said. “Where patients can’t access the medicine that they require, they have to be able to produce their own.”

The Most Dangerous Socialist in History Antonio Gramsci
The Most Dangerous Socialist in History | The Stream: It may be that the most effective Marxist was an Italian philosopher, journalist and Communist who spent the last years of his life in Mussolini’s prisons.
Antonio Gramsci had no blood on his hands. He signed no execution orders. He was even considered somewhat of a heretic by more mainstream Marxists of his time. Gramsci’s ideas, however, help explain why so many of the West’s cultural institutions today are rotten with leftist ideas and rhetoric.
Rule of law, for instance, is no longer understood as embodying a commitment to equality before the law and non-arbitrary behavior. Instead, it is “unmasked” as a tool for denying justice to various minorities. The American Revolution is not a principled defense of ancient liberties against burgeoning tyranny; instead it’s an effort by wealthy white Colonials to maintain their privileges. Civility is dismissed as something which constrains people from expressing their outrage against injustice. Even the English language is revealed to embody ancient “patriarchal” oppression against women.

Why the equal before the law ,a natural right, should be enforced worldwide
Clinton nonprofits have raised $2 BILLION, according to The New York Post, and big chunks of that cash come from foreign governments and business interests — including ortion donations made by shady overseas accounts while Clinton was secretary of state.
When groups can exempt themselves from normal rules of market engagement- corruption and perverse distortions are an natural outcome . Equal treatment is right and just. Equal treatment before the law can increase efficiency and rebuild trust in the failing public system. ( A reboot of the by force operating system is in order?)

Beware the new "Caveat emptor" Government " Smart " initiatives
There are many good intention activities being introduced by government or publicly funded agencies . Based on the good feel information you should do your due diligence and not blindly accept their claims without doing your own due diligence . "Smart for whom" becomes a critical and defining issue that should always be addressed.
The credibility of those that make the claim must be examined. From experience the trendy and apparently " smart tech" label has been open to abuse by special crony groups that profit from their programs . Please make informed decisions on " smart" cities , "smart " green initiatives or government collection from you schemes .
It is more important then ever to follow the proven advice of caveat emptor or let the buyer beware . Do not let the false Trojan horses into your life

No right to a discriminatory defence | Toronto Star
No right to a discriminatory defence | Toronto Star
Neither complainants nor accused should be subjected to discriminatory trials. Now is the time to have an honest conversation about how to protect full answer and defence without resorting to misogynist standards and practices. Such myths undermine the administration of justice. After all, these are not hypothetical fact scenarios; these are our friends, lovers, wives, sisters, mothers and daughters, just trying to live lives free from violence. Their — and our — fundamental liberty is at stake.

Pico countertop craft automatic brewery for the inexperienced home brewer - Images
In 2013, PicoBrew unveiled its Zymatic automatic beer brewing appliance, which was marketed to professional microbreweries as a way to create high-quality, repeatable test batches of new beer recipes. Now the Seattle-based startup has launched the PicoBrew Pico on Kickstarter. A smaller, more stylish version of the Zymatic, it's aimed at the home brewer with little or no experience, but a desire to make craft beer with as little effort and mess as possible.

Globe2Go What is government good for? It’s time for an answer.
Globe2Go
Government is now a big whale that can’t swim, that can’t keep up with the fast-changing global economy. It has too many management layers, too many oversight bodies and too many public servants generating performance reports that feed a fabricated bottom line that has no footing. The government is now also home to too many conflicting goals and has piled on too many activities on top of one another. In the process, it has lost sight of its core responsibilities, including managing effectively a regulatory regime that not only is able to set standards, but also to make sure that they are respected, as LacMégantic so clearly demonstrated. Notwithstanding high-profile program reviews, the government still relies on across-theboard cuts to control spending.

Should we try a helping hands up rather then the beating down by force approach? Suspensions of mobility are unconstitutional and economically counter productive.
"Tennessee is not alone in the practice: Five of the 15 states with the largest prison populations have it, according to Alicia Bannon at the Brennan Center for Justice. Most states also suspend licenses for failure to pay traffic fines, another policy that critics say creates a quicksand of debt. The American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators has complained that suspensions should be reserved for dangerous drivers, not indebted ones." New York Times

Ferguson: No Justice in the American Police State -- Paul Craig Roberts - PaulCraigRoberts.org
Clearly, the American police are an enormous danger to the public. It will be interesting to see what excuses the police shills will come up with to justify this murder. It is not American civilians with carry permits who murder 500 people a year. It is the goon thug police. Gun control should be applied to the police who lack sufficient intelligence and judgment to go around armed.
Five hundred is more than one killing by police per day. Yet the reports of the shootings seldom get beyond the local news. Why then has the Ferguson, Missouri, police killing of Michael Brown gone international?
Do we need gun control for police officers?

In 1960, the average US farmer fed just 26 people. Today, that farmer feeds 155 people, growing more on every acre every year.
And that’s not all — America’s farmers produce feed for cows and pigs and chickens… and grow enough to fuel our cars and trucks with cleaner, renewable fuels. That’s more than 13 billion gallons of renewable fuel powering our cars and 34 million tons of animal feed in 2012 alone.
How do they do it? Through innovation and technology, farmers are growing more crops on the same land, more sustainably. From soybeans to corn to wheat, yields are up by as much as 64% since 1980, and they continue to rise. Water use? Down by up to 75%. Soil erosion? Down between 30% and 60%. Energy use to grow crops? It’s been cut by half.
And now, farmers are diversifying by using land not suitable for crops to grow more feedstocks (non-edible plants like switchgrass that can be made into advanced renewable fuel). More food, more feed and more fuel, more efficiently. And we’re just getting started.

Fifteen percent of Canadian companies said they have been asked to pay bribes, sharply lower than the 28 percent global rate. Fourteen percent said they've lost business for refusing to pay. Knowledge is the tool to stop corruption.

Business and government: The new age of crony capitalism | The Economist
Business and government: The new age of crony capitalism | The Economist

The last reason for optimism is that the incentives for politicians have changed, too. Growth has slowed sharply, making reforms that open the economy vital. Countries with governments that are reforming and trying to tackle vested interests, such as Mexico, have been better insulated from the jitters in the financial markets.
There is much more to be done. Governments need to be more assiduous in regulating monopolies, in promoting competition, in ensuring that public tenders and asset sales are transparent and in prosecuting bribe-takers. The boom that created a new class of tycoon has also created its nemesis, a new, educated, urban, taxpaying middle class that is pushing for change. That is something autocrats and elected leaders ignore at their peril.

The best way "Old Rome" could control the people was through the Gladiator Games and nationalistic fervour that saw violence as good and criminals as demigods.
Government's have plenty of money, and dish it out to keep the people happy enough to be allowed to work for the global domination driven elite and dumb enough to think that it is a gift given to them by their superiors.
We have enough money we just spend it badly ? The compelling argument for ending the "Wars on" by government strategy

Social bonds program path to privatization, critics say
The concept originated in the United Kingdom in 2008 and caught on worldwide, including in the United States, where they are known as “pay for success” bonds. seems like a great idea
Why are existing social institutions so afraid of performance programs that work?

Veterans lifeline lost as VAC offices close | FAIR
Veterans lifeline lost as VAC offices close | FAIR
The one accusation on many veterans’ minds: why do Laurie Hawn and the rest of the Conservative Caucus allow Treasury Board and VAC senior bureaucracy to run roughshod over veterans’ rights to “be treated with respect, dignity, fairness and courtesy”?
There are two likely answers to this. In spite of Harper’s reputation of stepping all over the bureaucracy, he has been troublingly incapable of standing up to the most senior planners in all departments but especially VAC. The other possibility is an ideologically disturbing one: that the Conservatives believe disabled veterans are milking the system. By making programs increasingly harder to access, as veteran Bruce Moncur laments, government has a policy of “delay, deny and die” for veterans.
On the other ..... why not use technology to bridge the gap ? There are many alternatives to provide better one on one support. Skype and Face time come to mind . Better win wins are available to be fair.
